Dekoni Audio, in collaboration with Lucid Audio & Etymotic, is pleased to announce the release of Earplugz hearing protection! Based on the popular Etymotic ER20XS noise attenuators used by musicians, the Earplugz feature memory foam tips from Dekoni.
Etymotic is a specialist in hearing aid technology, hearing protection, and In-Ear Monitor earphones. Etymotic’s engineering research has revealed that the typical rock concert blasts sound with an average of 106 dB of pressure, enough volume to put your ears at risk for permanent hearing damage after just 4 minutes of exposure. A power lawnmower is less loud at an average of 90 dB SPL, which should still be safe for about two hours of exposure, however, hearing protection is still recommended for comfort and preventing fatigue.
Enter the Earplugz. Unlike single-use disposable earplugs, Earplugz still allow you to clearly hear concert music or movie dialogue, just quieter as if you had turned down the volume. With Dekoni memory foam tips, the Earplugz produce an almost equal sound reduction of 21dB across all frequencies. This is enough to reduce the perceived volume to 1/4 as loud, or 40 times less power hitting your eardrums! Now, you can enjoy that rock concert for 6 hours, hearing every lyric and intricate guitar lick. Mow the lawn or watch a movie at a theater, without sore ears by the time you finish.
Earplugz come with a carabiner and upgraded, splashproof aluminum case for everyday carry, as well as three sizes of Dekoni Gemini Bulletz. These slow-rebound memory foam tips come with the 3mm bore color-coded in blue for large, teal for medium, and white plastic cores for the small tips. A discrete neck cord is included, in case you want to temporarily remove the Earplugz without losing them. You can rinse off the Bulletz to remove earwax and keep them clean! They can also be used on your Etymotic IEMs.
