Sennheiser’s HD1, renamed, Momentum, line of headphones comes equipped with advanced wireless technology and a sleek design, easily capable of providing a high-quality listening experience. These are great headphones for those who enjoy wearing headphones on the go or prefer headphones with noise-canceling features. Due to Momentum’s growing popularity, unique features, and sturdy design, we decided to create replacement earpads that best complement these headphones. Our available replacement earpads for the Momentum 1.0, Momentum 2.0, and HD1 Wireless headphones include our Choice Leather and Choice Suede earpads. We have yet to release new earpads for the new Momentum 3.0 Wireless headphones due to the new design of the earcups, but we will have something in the works soon. For this post, we will go over the measurements of the HD1 Wireless headphones with our replacement earpads and we will compare them to the stock earpads. Note, due to Sennheiser's legal conflict with the rights to the name “Momentum”, the HD1 Wireless headphones are essentially rebranded headphones of the Momentum line. So, these measurements will be very close to the Momentum 1.0 and 2.0 headphones.

First up, we have our soft and sleek Choice Leather replacement earpads. When we tested these on our HD1 Wireless headphones, we noticed that the sound stayed relatively true to the stock earpads. However, there were some slight deviations of our earpads from the stock earpads. We noticed a minor decrease in bass extension at around 1-2 dB. There was also an increase in the low-mid range, which we found that it smoothed out the vocals more and gave more of presence in the deeper vocals at around 300 Hz. There is also a small dip at around 500 Hz, which smoothes out the mid-range vocals. The higher frequencies stayed very close to the stock earpads with very little change except that it gave it a slight airy feeling.

Next, we have our velvety and soft, Choice Suede replacement earpads. If you take a glance at the measurement graph, you will quickly notice the massive increase in the low frequency content. However, this can be due to the various tests we conduct in our lab. Once we get a similar match with the frequency response of the stock earpads, we adjust the listening position slightly. We do this roughly five times. The large increase in low frequency content is most likely a result of the seal and position of the earpad. But either way, our Choice Suede earpads will definitely add a feeling of warmth to your Momentum Wireless headphones. According to our measurements, we found a dip to the low-mid range at around 500 Hz. This will give less presence in the vocals in that range at roughly 4 dB. There is also an increase in high-frequency content, which can bring more clarity.
