I finally had my first NAMM experience! As the NAMM show made its anticipated return to Anaheim, I had the great pleasure of working our booth during the three day event. Because it was the first NAMM event with attendees since the Covid outbreak, there were doubts as to what this event would actually be like. However, those doubts immediately went away as I walked through the doors into the Anaheim Convention Center. Seeing the excitement from other vendors and the smiling faces of the attendees made it obvious that this was going to be a great show! I naturally felt anxious heading into NAMM because it has been over 10 years since I last worked at an event like this. My main concern was having a smooth interaction with those who stop by to check out our booth. Then the first visitors stopped by. I started talking to them about our company, the products we make and how it can improve the overall listening experience. Once they left, I noticed that I was going to be perfectly fine talking to any one else who visited our booth. That initial conversation went smoothly and I felt good talking not only about our pads but also our accessories like our HERO and Savior cases and the Dekoni Nuggets. I came across people from all different aspects of the audio world during NAMM. I met musicians, singers, DJs, audio engineers, podcasters and audiophiles who all had one thing in common, they all used headphones for long hours. My interactions started with introducing myself and welcoming visitors to our booth. From there, I asked “what do you use their headphones for?”. This question allowed me to learn what type of headphones they have and what field of work they are in. This simple question opened up the conversation and allowed me to provide personalized solutions to some of the issues they may have encountered.
I found it interesting to watch the reactions of the visitors after they learned about our products. Many have heard about the swapping out their ear pads but never looked further into it. By having our products on hand, visitors were able to try on headphones with Dekoni pads on them to feel the difference compared to stock pads. It did not matter if it was an audiophile or a professional musician, everyone who tried our pads was all pleasantly surprised. It was great to receive feedback from the end users perspective and almost all were positive reviews which made it that much sweeter.
My overall take on my first NAMM show was that it was a smooth one of a kind audio expo experience with great people. Maybe I had an enjoyable experience because there were less attendees this year which allowed me to spend more time with each visitor without feeling rushed. It was great to interact with so many people who were happy to find our products as a possible solution for their audio needs. This certainly was an experience that I will never forget and am thankful for the opportunity!
