Beyerdynamic’s latest DT700 and 900 Pro X headphones are exceptional for musicians, content creators, and audio enthusiasts interested in studio-quality headphones. With the included STELLAR.45 drivers, the DT900 Pro X open-back and its DT700 Pro X closed-back sibling are capable of recreating high-quality and professional-level audio. With the addition of Dekoni Audio’s luxurious Elite Sheepskin and Elite Velour earpads, you’ll be able to listen to your DT900 or 700 Pro X headphones with maximum comfort, making your long studio and listening sessions much more relaxing. With that said, we are aware that our replacement earpads can affect the overall sound signature of the headphones, depending on the model. That is why during the production process, we thoroughly measure our earpads until we can produce earpads that are capable of upholding the same level of high-quality sound as the original stock earpads. Now, without further ado, let’s take a look at how our earpads measure with both the DT700 and 900 Pro X headphones compared to the original stock earpads.
Let’s kick things off with our Elite Velour replacement earpads for the Beyerdynamic DT900 Pro X open-back headphones. As you can see, our high-thread count, ultra-soft velour material, combined with our high-density memory foam matches closely with the original stock earpads but increases the bass extension. This is because Beyerdynamic’s original stock pads also utilize a soft velour material, as this helps compliment the airy design of the DT900 Pro X open-back headphones. With the addition of our high-density memory foam and our high-thread count velour, you’ll notice a warmer sound signature, allowing for more bass presence and oomph in your music. Our Elite Velour material will also help maximize the breathability and open-sound stage of the DT900 Pro X. With a small decrease in dB, you’ll feel a slightly warmer response in the midrange. But as we reach the highs at roughly 3 kHz, you may notice the instruments in this ranch stand out a little more. Depending on your sound preference, we highly recommend you try the Elite Velour earpads with the DT900 Pro X open-back headphones. These pads compliment the open-back design and offer a similar, if not better, sound signature compared to the original velour stock pads.

Up next, we have our Elite Sheepskin replacement earpads for the DT900 Pro X. These earpads are made with real sheepskin and high-density memory foam. Whether you prefer sheepskin over velour or if you’re looking for a more unique and bass-heavy sound signature in your DT900 Pro X headphones, these are the pads for you. Due to the tighter seal and increased isolation from the solid sheepskin material, you’ll hear a noticeable increase in the low to lower midrange. The Elite Sheepskin pads have a similar frequency response in the higher mids, but as we reach the highs, you can see there are some fluctuations. At roughly 4-5 kHz, there’s a noticeable dip, which may help to reduce a bit of the sharpness in this range, but as we move higher up, there’s a slight increase in dB. Again, we recommend trying our Elite Velour earpads for the DT900 Pro X if you're looking to maintain a similarly airy and open sound signature as the stock pads. Although, if you prefer the comfort of the authentic sheepskin material and it includes a noticeable increase in bass extension, these are the ideal pads for you.
Moving onto the Beyerdynamic DT700 Pro X closed-back headphones, you can see that the Elite Sheepskin earpads add double the low-frequency content, creating the listening experience you need with these headphones. As stated before, this is due to the increased isolation and tighter seal from the solid sheepskin and high-density memory foam materials. Outside of the bass content, the Elite sheepskin earpads maintain a similar frequency response in the mid and high ranges with some minor dips and peaks, with the most noticeable peak at roughly 3-4 kHz. If you’re looking for upgraded comfort and increased bass while maintaining a similar frequency response in the mid to higher ranges for your DT700 Pro X, we highly recommend using the Elite Sheepskin earpads.
Lastly, we have the Elite Velour replacement earpads with the DT700 Pro X. Much like the Elite Sheepskin earpads with the DT900 Pro X, the Elite Velour earpads are a great option for those seeking a more unique listening experience that fits their sound and comfort preferences. The Elite Velour pads will offer an incredibly soft material with a roughly 4 dB boost in the lower bass content. The low-mid dip will help those who are highly sensitive to overwhelming melodic bass. Though, you’ll notice a stronger bass extension that leads into a dialed-back midrange. We recorded a roughly 6 dB decrease at the beginning of the midrange. There’s a noticeable dip at the 250 Hz mark that gradually finds its way back to the original stock sound at roughly 600 Hz. So from 250-600 Hz, you’ll notice instruments and vocals that fall in this range to be less prominent. We recorded a very similar frequency response in the high-frequency range. There’s a slight increase in dB at around 5 to 10 kHz, so you may notice a slightly sharper and crispier treble.

While sound and comfort are entirely subjective, we strive to give you — passionate audio enthusiasts — more options and the ability to satisfy your personal preferences in high-quality sound and comfort. Our Elite Sheepskin and Elite Velour earpads for the Beyerdynamic DT900 and 700 Pro X headphones offer upgraded comfort with our high-end materials and can help you stay focused and relaxed during long studio listening sessions. While you have the option to explore the best material option for your particular pair of DT headphones, we recommend Elite Velour for the DT900 Pro X open-back style and Elite Sheepskin for the DT700 Pro X closed-back style. We recommend these matchups simply because the velour meshes well with the design of the open-back, in terms of creating a more breathable and airy listening experience. And the solid sheepskin material is perfect for those wanting to increase the isolated sound of the DT700 closed-back. Again, whether you prefer Elite Velour or Elite Sheepskin with your Beyerdynamic DT900 or 700 Pro X will depend entirely on your physical material and sonic needs.
