Choice Suede
The cozy one. It's a 100% vegan synthetic suede with a soft, peach-fuzz surface that feels warm the second it touches your ears. The texture grips lightly, so the XM5 stays put without you cranking down the clamp, and it breathes better than smooth leather, so long sessions don't turn sweaty. Couch listening for hours at a time? This is the pick.

Protein Leather
Our standard for luxury. This is an eggshell-protein leather formulated to behave like human skin, and it feels the part: thinner, lighter and softer than cowhide, so there's less pressure on your ears over a long listen. The seal is the tightest in the lineup, which is exactly what the XM5's ANC wants. Matte finish, the same class of material Japanese audiophile brands put on their flagship stock pads. Pick this if you want maximum comfort and give up nothing on isolation.

Alpine
Built for people who run hot. There's a thermal barrier layer between the outer material and the foam that works as a heat sink: instead of one spot warming up and staying warm, it pulls heat off that spot and spreads it across the face of the pad to dissipate. Most pads trap warmth against your ear. Alpine moves it away. Same seal, same memory foam, now with real thermal management on top. Very comfortable and haven't made my ears hot. Also, I haven't been dealing with pain behind my ears with my glasses unlike my older headphones.

Gonna start this off saying I’m no clanker. I bought the suede version of these pads chasing comfort. But of course, the big question is: is ANC affected? Well I took the plunge and bought 60 dollar earpads on blind faith since I couldn’t find any proper reviews for it. Short answer is: ANC difference (based on stock, and two separate sets of quality aftermarket earpads) is either extremely negligible, or more accurately, not affected at all.

My testing was such: I sat in the same spot near my A/C with each set of earpads with noise cancelling on, and put them on, one by one. Each time I noted the faint hum of my AC, and how well I could hear my fingers snapping. My conclusion is the suede dekoni pads worked just as well, while being far and above way more comfortable than the rest. Probably because they’re not clammy leather/mock leather. Just buy these suckers. Worth the cost. I have dekoni for my PC headphones and they are absolute quality.

Game changer. The default pads on the xm6 are...bad. I was relatively happy with some replacements from Wicked Cushions but when I found these I just had to give them a try since I spend a lot of time using headphones for work and play. I went with the Choice Suede pads and they are awesome. Much more comfortable for long sessions and they have a really premium feel. I had my XM3s for many years and I anticipate keeping the XM6 for just as long, so I'm happy to invest a little more in making them comfortable.

The pads themselves were well packaged in a small box and came very quickly. Would recommend.

Didn’t buy these… escaped to them.

Stock XM6 clamp felt like a headlock. These? Instant upgrade. Went from “aggressive handshake” to “chill, we’re good.”

Super soft, breathable, no sweaty regret. Sound opens up a bit, slightly less boom, totally worth it.

Verdict:
If your XM6s are squeezing your soul, this is your peace treaty.
